Reed Library Updates

The library building will be closed August 24 through August 28

The front steps to the library are being removed and reset this week. The library will be closed to allow for this work to be done safely.

With no front steps there will be no access to the building for staff, delivery or visitors. There will be no window service. Please hold on to any materials you would like to return until the construction is cleared. No items should be due that week, so no worries about overdue materials. If a fine should sneak through we will happily waive it for you.

While the building is inaccessible, phone service will be available Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10 am to 1 pm and Tuesday and Thursday 5 pm to 7 pm. Please call the library number 845-225-2439 and your call will be forwarded during service hours.

Library Service Hours

Beginning September 1, service hours will be expanded:

Monday, Wednesday, Friday 10 am to 3 pm and Tuesday and Thursday 3 pm to 7 pm.

Beginning September 14, the building will be open with controlled admission. A few details...

Admission will require wearing a mask and observing social distancing guidelines. Entry will be restricted to a maximum of five visitors at one time. Time in the library is limited to a half hour if people are waiting to enter.

Because of limited space in the building, it may be necessary to wait outside if the maximum number of library visitors is reached.

Computer use will be by appointment only. Appointments will be one hour long with one-half hour between appointments for cleaning. Due to required social distancing, computer use is limited to two users at a time, one appointment per user per day.

In addition to computer use by appointment, the library will be open for browsing, use of the copier and fax machine, and library material transactions. All chairs that are not part of the two active computer stations will be removed from the library while social distancing restrictions are in place.

Window service by appointment will continue for those who prefer it.

Balancing everyone’s safety and well-being while providing needed services is a tough balancing act. We are working diligently to meet the challenge. Please send any questions or concerns to jbuck@carmellibrary.org. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
