New York Health Care Forum May 23, hosted by the Putnam League of Women Voters

Against the backdrop of ongoing national discussions about healthcare, the League of Women Voters of Putnam County will host a forum on NYS single-payer healthcare coverage May 23, 6:30 PM, at the Mahopac Library.

Three healthcare experts will discuss the current State proposals to extend healthcare coverage to all, and how the public can help make universal coverage a reality.

New York State Sen. Gustavo Rivera, Chair of the NYS Senate Health Committee, will discuss the status of the New York Health Act, which he introduced in the Senate.

Health economist Peter S. Arno, Senior Fellow and Director, Health Policy Research Political Economy Research Institute, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, will talk about the economics that support the implementation of NYS universal health care coverage.

Katie Robbins, MPH, Director of Campaign For New York Health, will discuss what New Yorkers can do to change a failed system of health coverage and make the New York Health Act the law that regulates health care for all in the NYS.
