Cuomo Extends deadline for Primary mail in ballots

Governor Andrew Cuomo has signed legislation extending the deadline to submit absentee ballots until the day of the primary election.  That means that for the upcoming, June 23 primary, ballots must be postmarked on or before June 23.  Previous Executive Orders allowed all New Yorkers to vote absentee in the June 23 primary elections and ordered all New Yorkers registered to vote to receive a postage-paid absentee ballot application in the mail.

In addition, the Governor issued an Executive Order extending the deadline for school districts to receive school ballots. To be counted, school ballots can be accepted by hand delivery through 5 p.m. on June 9 or received by mail by the school district through June 16.  By previous executive order, this year’s school budgets voting and school board elections voting are being held entirely by mail.
