Mahopac Man Arrested For DWI After Traffic Accident

Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. reports the arrest of a Mahopac man for Driving While Intoxicated, following a one-car traffic accident. On December 22, 2018, at approximately 8:55 pm, Sheriff Deputies were dispatched by Putnam 911 to the area of 283 Wood Street, located in the Town of Putnam Valley, for a report of a one-car traffic accident, vehicle into a utility pole. Deputies responded to the scene and confirmed that the accident involved only one vehicle. Deputies determined that the vehicle’s driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle. The driver refused medical assistance. Subsequent investigation revealed that the driver, John Bassi, age 51, of Mahopac, was allegedly intoxicated. Deputy Matthew Shelters arrested Mr. Bassi for Driving While Intoxicated. Mr. Bassi was transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility for arrest processing. Mr. Bassi was processed and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (Misdemeanor). Mr. Bassi was arraigned in the Town of Philipstown Justice Court, on behalf of the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court. Mr. Bassi was released on his own recognizance, pending a future court date in the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court.
