Putnam County Sheriff Robert L. Langley Jr. reports recent drug possession arrests, recorded by deputies of the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department. On January 2, 2019, at approximately 9:29 pm, Deputy Shane Rossiter observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation of Oscawana Lake Road, located in the Town of Putnam Valley. Deputy Rossiter initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Subsequent investigation revealed that the vehicle’s driver, Brandon Berlow, age 24, of Mohegan Lake, was in possession of a small quantity of alleged marijuana. Mr. Berlow was arrested for Unlawful possession of Marijuana. Mr. Berlow was processed at the scene and issued an appearance ticket. Mr. Berlow was released on his own recognizance pending a future court date in the Town of Putnam Valley Justice Court.
On January 3, 2019, at approximately 9:28 am, Deputy Benjamin Levine and Deputy Randel Hill were dispatched by Putnam County 911, to a report of an erratically driven vehicle, on State Route 9D, in the Town of Philipstown. The deputies canvassed for the vehicle and Deputy Hill observed a vehicle matching the erratically driven vehicle’s description commit traffic violations on State Route 9D, in the area of Philipstown Park. Deputy Hill initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. Subsequent investigation by the Deputy Hill and Deputy Levine revealed that that vehicle’s driver, David Richards, age 32, of Poughkeepsie, was in possession of a small quantity of alleged Heroin. It was also revealed that Mr. Richards driver’s license was suspended in the State of New York. Mr. Richards was placed under arrest and transported to the Putnam County Correctional Facility for arrest processing. Mr. Richards was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree (Class A Misdemeanor), and with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree (Misdemeanor). Mr. Richards was arraigned in the Town of Carmel Justice Court, on behalf of the Town of Philipstown Justice Court. Mr. Richards was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility on $250.00 cash-bail/ $500.00 bail-bond, and is due back in Philipstown Justice Court.
