Decennial Day Registration Now Open

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) are pleased to announce Decennial Day—the first in a virtual conference series focusing on healthcare-associated infections (HAIs)—on Monday, April 12, 2021. Registration is now open and free to all: Decennial Day Registration

The Decennial is a CDC conference that has been held once every ten years since 1970 with a goal of setting the agenda for HAI prevention for the next decade. Decennial Day kicks off sessions that were originally slated for the 6th Decennial International Conference on Healthcare Associated Infections in 2020.

Decennial Day sessions are designed to highlight evidence-based practices for providing global solutions to emerging and enduring pathogens, including antimicrobial resistance in health care.

The sessions featured on Decennial Day will include:

• Opening Plenary: Combating emerging and enduring pathogens including antimicrobial resistance: A focus on healthcare strategies

• Data for Action: The future of surveillance for healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial resistance

• Bugs Without Borders: Preventing transmission in health care

• Innovation: Big ideas that will impact patient care, HAI prevention, and containing antimicrobial resistance

• Closing Plenary: Preparing for the next decade of progress

In addition to Decennial Day, SHEA and CDC will host recorded sessions throughout 2021 highlighting many presentations intended for the 6th Decennial. The series will conclude at the International Conference on Prevention & Infection Control (ICPIC) this September.
