Chappaqua-Westchester's LawnChair Theatre Announces August Performances

“Here Comes the Sun, and I say ‘It’s all right’.”

Presented LIVE, Friday, August 7, at Recreation Field in Chappaqua

Port Chester, NY [7/28/20] – Returning for its 14th season of outdoor entertainment, Westchester’s LawnChair Theatre presents a curated collection of the very best of the British Invasion, pairing songs by the Fab Four with favorite sonnets and scenes from the English language’s most enduring playwright. Featuring a stellar cast of singers and actors accompanied by live musicians, the two-hour performances offer a delightful musical evening under the stars for the whole family, featuring 20+ Beatles’ songs including Yesterday, Norwegian Wood, Because and Blackbird, selected to enhance and reflect the tone, meaning and intent of sonnets (“Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day…”) along with readings of short segments from As You Like It, Romeo and Juliet, King Lear, Macbeth and many more. Presented by Chappaqua Parks & Recreation, the show takes place at Recreation Field on Thursday, August 7 at 6 pm, and will offer clearly marked, socially-distanced designated audience spaces.   Admission is free but donations are gratefully accepted!

Like the Summer Sunis conceived and directed by LawnChair’s Artistic Director Peter Green in collaboration with world-class arranger and musical director Keith Levenson, currently on hiatus from his job as Symphonic Conductor of The Who’s global tour.  Accompanied by the professional cabaret house band of famed Broadway composer Jason Robert Brown, the diverse, multi-generational cast of ten singers and seven actors blends professionally trained singers and actors with highly experienced amateurs.

Additional performances will be held at the Rye Reading Room in Rye, at Crawford Park in Rye Brook, and at the Bedford Playhouse Lawn in Bedford.

COVID POLICY: Socially distanced spaces will be clearly designated at each venue, and should be reserved in advance. Masks are required when not in your designated area. Performers will be masked when they are not speaking or singing. The stage area will be at least 12 ft. from the audience.
