This Saturday from 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM at the Plaza at the corner of King Street and Greeley Avenue in the Chappaqua hamlet, come listen to the Don Dupont Septet!
In the tradition of the iconic big bands of the 30’s and 40’s, Don DuPont has directed a long-running Chappaqua-based Big Band who has played swing, jive, and Latin-based music in the Westchester area for years. For this event however, he has assembled a 7-piece Septet featuring unique arrangements and instrumentation of the big band music of our musical heritage.
Don DuPont Sr., conductor and solo trombonist leads the Septet. A former elementary school teacher in the Chappaqua Schools, Don performed with some of the highest profile bands of the big band era including Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Guy Lombardo. He was also a member of the Ed Sullivan and Radio City Music Hall Orchestras. The Band’s instrumentalists all come from the areas and are a mix of accomplished amateurs, doctors, lawyers, bankers, and adventure seekers who happily get together to play this music and maintain a busy schedule of concerts, club dates, galas and fundraisers.
Grab a coffee and a dance partner and join us on the plaza!
