Darien YMCA Gymnasts Earn Qualification Scores
The Darien YMCA house team gymnasts recently competed at the Trumbull YMCA to earn qualifying scores for the upcoming championship meets. Gymnasts competed by Level only, with all ages together except Level 5. Top All-Around(AA) performers for all Levels were Holly Prichard, Brianna Barrientos, Alison Enters, Lily Fairleigh and Sofia Fea.
Jordan Moss had the top vault score out of nearly 50 gymnasts in Level 3 with a stellar 9.5. Also scoring 9.0 or higher on vault were Holly Prichard, Madeleine McGivney, Theodora Tertiropoulos, Molly Zengo, Lia Woodring and Tanner Shanley. Hannah Reyna and Julia Holmes earned their meet high scores on vault.
On bars, the star swingers were McGivney, Prichard, Megan Hayes and Lily Royce. Prichard also had the highest score for the team on beam with 9.05 and on floor; where other top tumblers were Hayes, Woodring and Shayna Moeller.
Vaulting to 9.0 or higher in Level 4 were Brianna Barrientos and sisters Alison and Annelise Enters. Earning their meet high scores on vault were Sophia Geffner, Isabella Woodring and Emily McKee.
On bars, Barrientos and Alison Enters, and were the top swingers. Alison also earned a team high beam score for the team with 9.1 while other steady performers were Barrientos, Elsa Del Bene and Carly Cambareri. Putting in a strong showing on floor were Barrientos and both Enters sisters. All of the Level 3s and 4s qualified for the upcoming Southern Leagues Championship Meet in March.
Tetyana Banaryk topped the vault, floor and AA scoring in the Level 5 Senior group with Nika Sibley also soaring to her highest score on vault. All of the Level 5s earned qualifying scores for YMCA Northeast Regionals and Nationals in addition to Southern Leagues.
Lily Fairleigh swung to the highest bars score for all of Level 6 with 9.2 while Sommer Schmidt scored 9.1 on vault. At Level 7, Sofia Fea earned a huge 9.5 on vault and 9.0 on floor. All three earned qualifying scores for all championship meets including the higher requirements of the YMCA State Championships.
