
Abilis, the non-profit organization that provides services and support to more than 700 individuals with special needs and their families, held its first annual Sound Therapy Golf Scrambleon June 12, 2019,at the Griffith E. Harris Golf Course in Greenwich, Connecticut. More than 100 golfers participated in the event, which began with a shot-gun start and raised more than $20,000 to support Abilis’ Sound Therapy program.
The Abilis Sound Therapy program provides a calming environment for individuals with special needs to focus on the senses, utilizing calming sounds, specialized scents and vibrations. The benefits of sound therapy include relaxation techniques to help support physical and emotional health well-being by reducing stress and increasing positive communications. The Abilis program participants after each session have reported more clarity, calmness and regulated emotions.
