Greenwich Choral Society's Narthalie Rutherford Scholarship Award

Greenwich Choral Society is pleased to announce Emily Hoffman of Fairfield as a recipient of the 2020 Nathalie Rutherford Scholarship Award. She was honored at the Choral Society’s 2020 virtual Annual Meeting.

Emily Hoffman is a senior at Fairfield Warde High School and will be graduating in June. She is a section leader in Fairfield Warde’s Bel Canto Choir, in the Treble Choir, in the Concert Choir, and in the Muse and Overtones A Capella group. She has also served as President of the Fairfield County Children’s Choir Chamber Singers. Her theater experience includes serving as the Student Assistant Director of the McKinley Elementary School Drama Club and as a member of the Fairfield Prep Players.

She is the recipient of a number of awards including; The Connecticut Association of Schools Outstanding Arts Award, the National Association of Music Education all-Eastern Honors Choir, the Connecticut Music Educators Association All-State Honors Choir and Western Region Honors Choir, the Tri-M Music Honor Society, the Fairfield Warde High School Excellence in Music Award and Music Scholar Award.

Ms. Hoffman will attend the University of Connecticut, Storrs Campus, and intends to pursue a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance and a Master’s Degree in Music for a career as a private voice teacher.

The Greenwich Choral Society sponsors the competition for the annual Nathalie Rutherford Scholarship Award of $3,000. Any senior attending school in Fairfield or Westchester County who intends to pursue further study in vocal or choral music is encouraged to apply.
