Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Counseling Associates!

Founder Sheila Devlin-Craane talks about Counseling Associates.

Why did you start your business?

Counseling Associates, Inc has been in operation for 27 years with offices in NYC, Westchester and Connecticut. Dr. Sheila Devlin-Craane began seeing clients in Westchester as an APRN in Psychiatric Mental Health as a therapist and prescriber and later as a marriage and family therapist for adults and families.

What is your best-selling product/service?

After further education and preparation at the doctoral level, the focus of treatment included PTSD and those affected by trauma.
As an EMDR-certified therapist. Treating those in need of trauma-focused therapy became the focus of my practice.

During the height of the pandemic, many first responders and health professionals were in search of a therapist who could focus on their trauma with results that allowed them to return to their lives with added skills for dealing with stress and anxiety.

Treatment has emerged as an integrative, somatic therapy that encompasses various aspects of therapy with a mind-body focus.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

Often referrals are made to other providers in the community for medication, addiction treatment, Reiki, and integrative methods of healing.
