Golf Digest’s Michael Breed & ESPN’s Trey Wingo to serve as “Iron Chefs”

The First Tee of Connecticut is hosting its annual Taste of the Tee on Thursday, October 4 at Fairview Country Club in Greenwich. The evening of “sipping and savoring” will benefit the chapter’s youth programs throughout Fairfield County. Golf Digest’s Michael Breed and ESPN’s Trey Wingo will serve as “Iron Chefs” offering tips to guests. Bill Gray will be honored for his many years of dedicated service on the Board of Directors and his instrumental work raising funds from donors across the state for the Annual Giving campaign. The event co-chairs are Holly and Matt Cassin and Karen and Eric Hopp of Greenwich.

The evening will feature tasting tables and wines, spirits and brews from area chefs and restaurants. Entertainment will include Golden Tee arcade games, a golf simulator and putting green staffed by First Tee coaches.

The First Tee introduces golf to deserving students who might otherwise not have access to the sport. The organization’s Connecticut chapter reaches thousands of youth each year through in-school and national school programs, group lessons, squads, on-course team programs and summer camps. Along with golf instruction, The First Tee goes beyond the golf course and into the classroom instilling students with its Nine Core ValuesHonesty, Integrity, Sportsmanship, Respect, Courtesy, Judgment, Confidence, Responsibilityand Perseverance.

“In its fourth year, the unique Taste of the Tee event invites the community to come together for a fun night in support of our mission to positively impact the lives of young people across Fairfield County,” said Mark Moriarty, Executive Director of The First Tee of Connecticut. “Funds raised at Taste of the Tee will help to increase our chapter’s presence across Fairfield County so that even more young people are given the opportunity to experience and benefit from the core values and life skills that are integral to the game of golf, the classroom and beyond.”

The success of Taste of the Tee relies entirely on the generosity of individuals and businesses within the community. Sponsors include Broken Shed Vodka, Jordan Paige Food Enterprises, Longford’s Ice Cream, Moffly Media and Two Roads Brewing Company.
