Abilis Hosts Art Show at the First Bank of Greenwich

Abilis, the non-profit organization that provides services and support to more than 700 individuals with special needs and their families, will hold an Abilis Art Show at the First Bank of Greenwich, 444 E. Putnam Avenue, Cos Cob, Connecticut, on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

The art show will feature paintings, photographs and digital art created by 14 adults who are supported by Abilis and participate in Abilis’ programs. The event will feature food, drinks and music, as performed by Abilis member Misa Shimada on the piano.

Of the 14 Abilis artists showcasing their work at the Abilis Art Show, Barbara Constandaki has nine paintings in the show and is a prolific and talented artist. Barbara always enjoyed art while growing up, but did not pursue her passion for painting until 2009 when she was 50 years old and moved into an Abilis residence. With Abilis and Abilis’ day programs, Barbara has been able to nature her artistic talents. She is now 60 years old and spends her days in the Abilis Gardens & Gifts shop where she paints, knits, creates other artwork and interacts with customers. The Abilis Gardens & Gifts store is part of Abilis’ employment services where Abilis members can learn job skills and hone their artistic talents. 

 

The Abilis Art Show features 27 paintings and digital art and photographs all created by Abilis members. In addition to the art exhibit. the Abilis Gardens & Gifts will also have a popup shop at the art exhibit where guests can shop for handcrafted products, soaps and candles.
