Greenwich United Way Finance Champions 5th Graduating Class

Thursday, December 2nd will mark the fifth graduating class of Finance Champions, an educational volunteer-led Greenwich United Way Program held at the Boys & Girls Club.

On this afternoon, Greenwich Public Middle School Students enrolled this fall semester will lead their own holiday showcase with personal presentations about the valuable life skills they have acquired from this impactful program. Skills include how these young students can save, earn, and spend wisely. To flex their entrepreneurial spirit, they will also hold their own holiday sale to help them meet their earning goals which include saving for college.

Finance Champion students recognize that it’s never early to put money aside to make college a reality. This fall, Greenwich United Way and the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich have teamed up with Members Credit Union to inaugurate the first ever Finance Champions College Savings Accounts with matching by both local non-profit partners. Nearly a dozen participating students have already opened their own interest-bearing account, cooperatively held with a parent/guardian.

“We’re thrilled to help Finance Champion students meet their college savings goals and future potential. It will be very exciting to witness these funds grow with regular deposits, planning and generous matches to accelerate meeting their savings goals that ultimately fuel their college success," said David Rabin, CEO of the Greenwich United Way in Greenwich, Connecticut.
