Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Gala on May 12 at Greenwich Country Club

The Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter is thrilled to announce the 10th Annual Celebrating Hope gala on May 12 at Greenwich Country Club. To mark the milestone anniversary, the event will have a special theme: “Alzheimer’s Association Goes Hollywood: Celebrating 10 years of Passion, Progress and Purpose.”

Co-chairing the gala are Connecticut residents and power couple Brent and Courtney Montgomery, who have deep roots in the community. Brent is founder of The Village – the waterfront destination in Stamford for work and play that aims to be a catalyst for culture and community – and CEO of Wheelhouse, the media, marketing and investment venture in partnership with Jimmy Kimmel, which is anchored at The Village. Courtney, a Connecticut native, is Developer of The Village and CEO of Wheelhouse Properties. The pair have a personal connection to the disease.

Brent commented, “My life changed ten years ago when I found out my father had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, and even more so last fall when he died from the disease. I learned so much from others along the journey and have a lot to share and be thankful for. My dad knew how to have fun and thus, that will be my focus that evening with a few exciting surprises and Wheelhouse friends."

Courtney said, “Seeing my father-in-law lose his brave battle with Alzheimer’s was devastating for our family, and I know the toll this disease takes on so many. Recent promising news about advancements gives me hope. Having been involved with the Association for 8 years, I am honored to play a bigger role with the organization for this year’s milestone gala – we must keep the momentum going!”

There are 80,000 people living with Alzheimer’s disease in Connecticut, and that number is expected to reach 91,000 by 2025. This annual gala helps the Alzheimer’s Association Connecticut Chapter educate and empower those with dementia and their caregivers, as well as fuel critical research towards new treatments and effective ways to manage this disease.

The Montgomerys are leading a committee of Fairfield County volunteers and supporters who are working to gain sponsorships and live auction items for the impactful and inspirational event. Committee members include: Corporate Development Chair Derek Braddock, Ginge Cabrera, Kate Clark, Jen Danzi, Wendy Day, Emily Diaferio, Jaime Eisenberg, Kendra Farn, Emma Habek, Victoria Hanes, Kim Haney, Eleni Henkel, Brittany Illustrato, Allison Leigh, Nina Lindia, Cristin Marandino, Cindy Milazzo, Heather O’Connell, Monique Olivier, Jennifer Shannon, Kristin Welton, Danielle Wong, Dena Zarra and Amy Zolin.
