St. Barnabas Episcopal Church Announces The Organ Jake Street 

St. Barnabas Episcopal Church is delighted to announce Jake Street will play the first concert in its Bach@415 Concert Series for the 2018-2019 season, which will take place at 4:15 p.m. on Sunday, November 4.

Under the creative leadership of J. Michael Roush, Director of Music of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Mr. Street will play the Richards, Fowkes organ in an all Bach program that will include his famous Passacaglia in C minor, as well as other great masterworks.

Jake Street, Music Director of St. Paul’s-on-the Greenwich in Norwalk, CT has been a prizewinner in multiple competitions, including Prize for the Interpretation of French Music in Biarritz, France; Second Prize in the International Buxtehude Organ Competition in Lübeck, Germany; and the Prix de la ville d’Angers in the Jean-Louis Florentz International Organ Competition. 

In 1988, St. Barnabas Church commissioned a “Classic” organ, representing the style prevalent during the 1600s in northern Germany and Holland, which was the type of organ that Bach and Handel played and composed upon.

Mr. Roush remarked, "What makes this performance so special is that Mr. Street studied in Europe on instruments just like our organ at St. Barnabas.

Meet the artist receptions for he 2018-2019 Bach@415 concert series is graciously sponsored by Happiness is Catering.  These will be short receptions immediately following the concerts so that guests can have a special opportunity to meet the musicians.

J. Michael Roush was appointed the Director of Music at St. Barnabas in 1979 after graduating from Juilliard.  His long tenure has produced decades of remarkable concerts from large-scale pieces with orchestra to intimate a cappella works.  In addition, he has performed solo organ concerts at many churches and halls in this country and Europe.
