Winter Walk in Greenwich on December 11: Identifying trees without leaves

Join Greenwich Land Trust for a Winter Walk on December 11 from 1-3 pm!

After the foliage fireworks of autumn, most people aren't interested in the natural beauty of trees in the winter. They often think of the winter forest as a monochromatic stand of brown and grey trunks. But on this guided walk through the 40-acre Lapham Preserve, we will learn how to identify and enjoy trees without their leaves and talk about ways to look closer at the diverse features of bark, branches, and buds. We will also enjoy a varied winter landscape and learn about the many strategies flora and fauna employ to survive the winter.

The walk covers mostly flat but mixed terrain. All ages are welcome. Sturdy, waterproof footwear along with warm clothes are recommended. Free of charge. RSVP to sophie@gltrust.org Learn more at https://gltrust.org/event/winter-walk-identifying-trees-without-leaves/
