55th Annual Christmas Tree & Wreath Sale at First Congregational Church of Greenwich

As the holiday season approaches, Old Greenwich prepares for a festive annual tradition. Just across from Binney Park, on the front lawn of First Congregational Church of Greenwich (108 Sound Beach Avenue), the 55th Annual Christmas Tree & Wreath Sale will get underway on Saturday, November 27th from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Every purchase comes with a purpose, as all proceeds raised through the sale with be given to six local charities that are serving families in this time of critical need. The charities include Kids in Crisis, the Young Adults Program at Pacific House, Fund for New Covenant Center, Mothers for Others, Community Centers, Inc. and Building One Community.

“Local agencies are still experiencing higher demand for their services, as well as increased financial needs,” said Lauren Ghaffari, chair of this year’s sale. "The fresh cut trees, beautiful wreaths and roping will be enjoyed for the season but are actually gifts that keep on giving long after the holidays are over.”

Legions of volunteers from the church and the surrounding community will gather at 8 a.m. on Saturday, November 27th to unload more than 500 New Hampshire-grown trees off the long flatbed delivery truck and onto display racks on the front lawn of the church. The sale itself will begin as soon as the trees have been unloaded, at about 9 a.m.  It will feature premium Fraser Fir and Balsam Fir trees of all sizes, plus wreaths and decorating kits, natural pine roping and premium quality “Last Stand” tree stands.

“We are grateful for the many community volunteers, including the GHS Freshman Football Team for their help in unloading and setting up the sale,” said Ghaffari.

In recent years, the sale has grown into a traditional community event, staffed with volunteers of all ages, including church members, ambassadors from the benefiting charities and students from Greenwich public and private schools. Shoppers are urged to come early for the best selection.

The sale will follow all appropriate COVID-19 precautions as outlined by the National Christmas Tree Association and the State of Connecticut. First Church is committed to providing a comfortable and safe experience for everyone. Details can also be found at www.fccog.org
