The Cultural Alliance of Fairfield County celebrates the vibrancy and diversity of the arts and culture across the 15 towns in our region of coastal Fairfield County and each Wednesday issues our free E-Buzz newsletter with a selection of the hundreds of events posted to our website by our members. Kick off the summer season of arts and culture with music, dance, art, fashion, and even a block party! Follow the summer winds to any or all of the following events:

The Mavericks - “En Español” World Tour at The Ridgefield Playhouse 

Friday, June 24, 8-10 pm

This eclectic rock and country group is known for lively performances that transcend traditional musical boundaries. Founded in Miami in 1989, The Mavericks had a string of big hits and critical acclaim in the ‘90s. The band had a triumphant reunion in 2012 and recently celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2019. Now, they are back and ranking on the Billboard charts with their first all-Spanish language album, En Español.

Pantochino Production’s As Long As We’re Talking at the MAC, Milford

Friday, June 24, 7:30pm

Celebrate Pride Month with a new musical inspired by actual events. Set in an LGBTQ book store, a cashier receives an urgent cry-for-help phone call from a young gay person about to end their life. It is up to the cashier, and the store to keep this person engaged, on the line and alive. Performed in one act for ages 13 and up. Also showing Saturday 2pm and 7:30pm and Sunday, 2pm.

2022 Guild Summer Salon at Silvermine Galleries, New Canaan

Saturday, June 25, 10am-4pm

Featuring works by 136 members of the Silvermine Guild of Artists working in a broad range of styles, this annual summer art sale celebrates Silvermine painters, sculptors, printmakers, mixed media and fiber artists. On view through August 18th.

June Open Studios at Metro Art Studios, Bridgeport

Saturday, June 25, 12-4pm

See nearly 40 fine artists working in a wide variety of disciplines, from drawing to painting, sculpture to jewelry, printmaking to photography, and much more. Explore the meticulously renovated three-story corset factory building in the South End of Bridgeport, talk to the artists about their inspiration, techniques, and processes, and find art to buy, collect, gift, and display. Visit the two most current art exhibits, and enjoy live music in the gallery at 2 pm. Come for a fun and culturally-rich afternoon!

The 22nd Annual Vivian & Stanley Reed Marine Show at The Stamford Art Association 

Saturday, June 25, 4-6pm

Come to the opening reception in the newly re-opened Townhouse Gallery. This exhibit centers a diverse group of artists and their interpretations of all things water. The show will be juried by Capt. Michael Bagley, artist and Director of Marine Operations for SoundWaters, who will award cash prizes. On view through July 28th during Gallery Hours (Friday-Sunday 12-3pm)

North County Band w/Alyssa Grey at Redding Concert on the Green, Redding Town Green

Sunday, June 26, 6-8pm

Bring the family, a picnic, some folding chairs, your dancing flip-flops, BYOB, and rock out with The North County Band with special guest, Alyssa Grey. The North County Band has performed at Daryl's House Club, Mohegan Sun Casino, and dozens of corporate, municipal, private, and public events in NY, MA, ME, & CT. Members share a love of country music and live performance, as well as a friendship that comes across in their stage presence. Stamford Block Party! at Stamford Town Center Restaurant Plaza

Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26, 12-8pm

It’s a two day celebration of Arts, Culture and Community with entertainers including Parsons Dance, Henry Jones Drumming, Emotions Physical Theatre, Alison Cook Beatty Dance, Thomas/Ortiz Dance, East Coast Contemporary Ballet, New York Comedy Club, Illusionist David Garrity, Portal Norton Peruvian Dance and fifty more… Plus food trucks, interactive activities including games, DIY murals, a giant mushroom forest, dance lessons and other activities.

The Jester Jim Show at The Westport Library

Sunday, June 26, 2pm 

Kick Off Your Summer with Jester Jim who takes the Library's main stage with a truck full of weird stuff that he tosses into the air. Is he a juggler? Is he a comedian? Does he perform the most amazing beatbox intro you've ever seen? You decide! Kids and adults alike will be talking about Jester Jim's wild antics for weeks. Fun for the whole fam!

Fashion Show Fundraiser at The Klein, Bridgeport 

Sunday, June 26, 3-6pm

Featuring The Faces of Beauty Model Team and Headliner Designer Hope Wade, NY Fashion Week designers come to Connecticut, ripping the runway for some of the best designers in the industry. With special guest, Bria Holmes, WNBA Player and a special performance by rapper, Codeclife. A portion of proceeds go to Helping Hands Outreach, a non-profit for homeless people.

Jay Leno at The Ridgefield Playhouse

Sunday, June 26, 4-7pm

Two shows! Characterized as “the hardest working man in show business,” Leno revisits his stand-up roots in a rare intimate evening with a legend. The acclaimed Emmy, People’s Choice, and TV Guide-honored late-night-show host is also an admired stand-up comedian, best-selling children’s book author, pioneering car builder and mechanic, and philanthropist. Don’t miss this rare opportunity!

BackCountry Jazz presents the Greenwich Jazz Festival 2022 

Sunday, June 26, 5-6:30pm

This free summer season features extraordinary jazz artists, from celebrated greats to young rising stars. Nine concerts in casual, open air settings - June through September. This Sunday, Bennie Wallace, tenor saxophone; Godwin Louis, alto saxophone; Donald Vega, piano; Peter Washington, bass; Billy Drummond, drums. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, picnic baskets, wine. Venue provided with reservation confirmation. 

Summer Concert Series: The Barons at Bartlett Arboretum & Gardens, Stamford

Sunday, June 26, 5-7pm

Kicks off your summer with doo wop band, The Barons - one of the tri-state’s hottest tribute groups, offering an energetic, faithful rendition of the Motown and R&B hits from the 1960's. The concert will take place on the Great Lawn. Bring chairs or a blanket, and a picnic dinner.
