Greenwich Residents Among Chelsea Piers Swim Team Members to Announce D1 College Commitments

Chelsea Piers Connecticut is proud to announce that nine athletes from the Chelsea Piers Aquatics Club will continue their swimming careers at DI programs this fall. The swim team began in September of 2012 and has grown into one of the strongest programs on the east coast recognized annually by USA Swimming as top 50 club nationally for 18 and under swimmers.

Those who will continue as student-athletes at top DI programs in the fall include:

Spencer Erickson – Darien, CT - Georgetown*

Connor Morikawa – Weston, CT - Georgetown* 

Catherine Hamilton – Rye, NY - Villanova 

Bridget Semenuk – Riverside, CT - Texas @ Austin

Kate Douglass – Pelham, NY - University of Virginia

Elizabeth Boeckman – Greenwich, CT - Princeton*

Siera Daly – Weston, CT - Dartmouth* 

Andrew Lydon – Old Greenwich, CT – Holy Cross

Emily Warner – Greenwich, CT – Claremont McKenna*

“Chelsea Piers Aquatics Club is so proud of these nine athletes who are a shining example of our values,” says Jamie Barone, CPAC Head Coach and Chelsea Piers Aquatics Director. “We have created a culture that attracts talented athletes and inspires them to work hard over a long period of time to achieve their goals. We are fortunate to have the facility, knowledgeable staff and dedicated swimmers to see such great results.”

The team is led by Jamie Barone, who was born and raised in Stamford, CT and competed at the 2004 and 2008 Olympic Trials. The professional staff of coaches, which includes multiple Olympic Trials Qualifiers, former National and International level competitors, NCAA qualifiers, have come together to create an environment that nurtures athletes and supports their long term vision.
