Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Appoints New Transportation Manager

Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones has appointed Mr. Elmer Reynoso as transportation manager, effective immediately.

In this role, Mr. Reynoso will supervise and coordinate all aspects of transportation for public and non-public school children in Greenwich, including to and from school and special activities. Mr. Reynoso replaces Ms. Vicki Gregg, who departed GPS for an outside opportunity earlier this year.

“We are very pleased to have Elmer officially join us at GPS,” Dr. Jones said. “His experience, qualifications, and familiarity with our wonderful community makes him a natural fit for an extremely vital position that manages a large and complex transportation system.”

Mr. Reynoso’s duties include: maintaining a system of communication with all schools; making regular field inspection of buses and bus routes to see that schedules are being maintained,  stops being made, and buses operated in a safe manner; planning and implementing bus safety programs in all public and non-public schools; working with the Greenwich Police Department and Town Traffic Engineer to ensure the safety of students; and attending all Transportation Advisory Committee meetings, serving as liaison between the committee and school system.

“My professional experience has given me an in-depth look at all of the aspects of GPS’ transportation system,“ Mr. Reynoso said. “Our buses are the students' first and last interaction of their school day. I hope to help make them great ones every day."

Mr. Reynoso has been involved in school transportation in the Town of Greenwich since 2011 and most recently, held the position of terminal manager for Student Transportation of America (STA), managing more than 150 staff members. He has held multiple positions at STA including bus driver, dispatcher, and bus safety instructor. Mr. Reynoso held a key role as a GPS consultant for TransPar Group, the largest school transportation management, consulting, and advisory firm in North America, from 2016 through 2017.
