Greenwich Historical Society Adds to Leadership Team

Greenwich Historical Society welcomes two Greenwich residents with deep roots in the community as Trustees.

Cynthia Chang has broad experience serving the community as an active board and committee member for organizations including the YWCA, Mead House and the Chinese Language School of Connecticut. A graduate and active alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania, Cynthia and her husband Brian Scanlon have raised their two children in Greenwich.

Chuck Niemeth has enjoyed a long relationship with the Greenwich Historical Society as the husband of former board member Anne Niemeth. He is Senior Counsel at Baker McKenzie, and a director and executive committee member of the New York Philharmonic. Chuck received a B.A. from Harvard College and a J.D. from Michigan Law School, where he was Editor of the Michigan Law Review. 

“It’s a privilege to have Cynthia and Chuck join our distinguished group of Trustees,” says Haley Elmlinger, co-chair of the Board of Trustees.“Their accomplishments, leadership skills and deep love for Greenwich will help our Board and staff in fulfilling our mission to the community and to our schools.”

 Stephanie Barnett joins the Historical Society as Public Programs Manager. The new position entails the development of collaborative relationships across the broad Greenwich community, including businesses, education, cultural and arts organizations, and non-profits, for engaging and innovative programming that fosters community connection and historical preservation. After receiving a B.A. in History from Harvard University, Stephanie began her career in education teaching 6th and 7th Grade Social Studies in Hartford. She developed educators in her role as a Manager of Teacher Leadership Development for Teach for America Connecticut.
