Junior League of Greenwich Announces Community Service Award

Calling all local female high school students who are passionate about community service! The Junior League of Greenwich is now accepting applications for its Community Service Award.

Each year the Junior League of Greenwich designates funds to be awarded to a local female high school student through its Community Service Award. The award of $2,000 is intended to recognize a high school student who exemplifies the mission of the Junior League of Greenwich by demonstrating sustained commitment to community service. The recipient must be someone whose volunteer activities demonstrate initiative and show significant and sustained commitment to community service and leadership.

To be eligible the applicant needs to a be a female high school student in grade 9-12, who lives in or attends school in Greenwich. The recipient must be someone whose volunteer activities demonstrate initiative, leadership, and a sustained commitment to community service.

Applications can be found at jlgreenwich.org and must also include two written recommendations from non-family members with knowledge of the student’s volunteer activities. The deadline for submission is April 6, 2022.

The Junior League of Greenwich presented the 2021 Community Service Award to Stephanie Busani, then a junior at Greenwich High School. Stephanie is an outstanding volunteer for Neighbor to Neighbor who dedicated in excess of 2000 service hours to the organization. Additionally, she spearheaded her own program, The Monthly Mission, to help provide feminine hygiene products for women in need. Stephanie has also been a volunteer performer at Off-Beat Players, and is preparing to be a future volunteer EMT. Stephanie plans to use $800 of the grant towards her college education where she plans to study nursing, and she will use $200 to support Neighbor to Neighbor.
