Greenwich First Selectman, Fred Camillo; Greenwich Selectwoman, Lauren Rabin; and Connecticut State Senator, Ryan Fazio Host the Bistro V Bar Takeover in January

The special "guest bartending" event will benefit Adopt-A-Dog, Greenwich Alliance for Education, and Meals on Wheels of Greenwich through a percentage of proceeds from happy hour.

100% of the proceeds from a special cocktail/mocktail will also benefit the non-profit organizations and is available throughout the month. Customers will vote to select the non-profit organization that will receive the largest donation amount from the fund and awareness raiser.

GREENWICH, Conn., Tuesday, January 11th, 2022 -- Local and State officials, Fred Camillo, Lauren Rabin, and Ryan Fazio will take over the Bistro V bar and host as guest bartenders to support the local community on Tuesday, January 18th from 4:30 pm until 6:30 pm. The event will raise money for local non-profit organizations that were selected by each of the hosts.

Bistro V launched the guest bartending event series in October in an effort to support the local community while raising awareness for the restaurant's Happy Hour menu. The guest bartending series previously raised money for the Transportation Association of Greenwich (TAG) hosted by Jen Danzi; Neighbor to Neighbor hosted by Jessica Reid of IN Greenwich and Lindsay Potter of Greenwich Cocktail Week, and Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich hosted by Mike and Dana Parelli along with Chris Jones of Shoreline Video Productions and food influencers @localeatzz and @greenwichfoody. The program has raised over $1,500 in donations.

"I am excited to guest bartend alongside Lauren and Ryan," said Camillo. He continued, "We are all working really hard to improve the quality of life in the communities we serve and it's nice that we can come together to support local business and have some fun while raising awareness and funds for causes that mean a lot of us. All three of these organizations we are supporting on the 18th are Town treasures and this is another way to show our gratitude".

The name of the special cocktail/mocktail that was created for this month's promotion is inspired by the year Greenwich was founded, 1640. The cocktail version includes farm-crafted organic vodka and is made with fresh citrus juices, pineapple, and cranberry. "It is important for us to include a drink that is alcohol-free so that anyone in the community can participate if interested in supporting," said Rabin. She continued, "A lot of people are abstaining from alcohol for the month of January and taking part in what's called, Dry January. We wanted to be mindful of that." The Bistro V mocktail version of 1640 is set for $10 while the cocktail version with vodka is $15.

The restaurant's Happy Hour menu, which includes discounts on popular lunch/dinner menu items, normally runs Monday through Thursday from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM but will be extended until 6:30 PM during the event. Takeout and limited outdoor bar tables will be available to help manage the capacity of the indoor event and allow for social distancing in the bar area. Masks are worn by Bistro V staff and are required for anyone moving around the bar and restaurant areas. Anyone that has been exposed to COVID-19 or has COVID-like symptoms should not attend this event.

"During this time we're urging people to use their best judgment when attending any social events," said Fazio. He continued, "If you're uncomfortable attending we suggest ordering takeout and mentioning the event to family and friends". Bistro V created an event page on Facebook where the community can vote for the non-profit that receives the largest donation. "We've decided to donate a larger percentage to one of the non-profit partners based on the community's feedback," said Fazio.

Bistro V is open for lunch and dinner on weekdays and weekend brunch on Saturday and Sunday. The restaurant switches back to its original concept, Versailles Patisserie, during the morning hours (8:00 am until 11:00 am). Versailles, known for cakes, pastries, and viennoiserie made from authentic French recipes, was established in 1980. Visit Bistro V online for more information (versaillesgreenwich.com).
