Greenwich Public Schools Appoints Dr. Jonathan Budd Chief Human Resources Officer

Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones announced the appointment of Dr. Jonathan Budd as chief human resources officer, effective July 1, and will begin working transitional days in the coming weeks.

“We are very excited to add Dr. Budd to the District’s leadership team to lead our human resources department,” Dr. Jones said. “His vast experience in administration, and specifically in human resource matters in school districts in Connecticut, will prove to be a major asset to Greenwich Public Schools. He will lead the HR team on all Board of Education certified labor agreements, while providing input and working cooperatively, with the Town directors of human resources and labor relations.”

As the chief human resource officer, Dr. Budd will lead a team that oversees all Board of Education human resources functions, including the supervision of the hiring process for all staff, and will collaborate with the superintendent of schools to review the BOE’s table of organization.

“Greenwich Public Schools are justifiably the envy of educators across the State of Connecticut,” Dr. Budd said. “It will be my privilege and pleasure to join Dr. Jones and the GPS team in maximizing the potential of each employee toward the strongest experience for each and every child, each and every day."

Dr. Budd currently serves as superintendent of schools for the Woodbridge School District and prior, spent six years in Trumbull Public Schools, where he most recently held the position of assistant superintendent. In both positions, Dr. Budd took an active role in managing all human resources and staffing matters.

Dr. Budd’s career in education began in 1996 as an English teacher at Windsor High School. Starting in 2000, he worked at the Region 9 School District, serving Easton and Redding, as an English teacher and co-director of the Writing Center, while also acting as the lead negotiator on teacher bargaining for 15 years.

Dr. Budd earned a bachelor's degrees in English and music from Connecticut College, a master’s degree in English from Trinity College, a sixth-year diploma in educational administration from the University of Connecticut, and doctoral degree in English education from Columbia University.
