BandJam returns to Ridgefield Playhouse, now open to adults!

Connecticut’s definitive music competition is back for its 12th year, and this time it’s bigger and better! The Ridgefield Playhouse is joining with industry professionals that can help you take your music career to the next level! Now open to adults!

This year’s event includes several new and exciting changes, which will give artists the strongest platform possible, plenty of exposure, exciting prizes, and enough content to fill a press kit.

This live competition will take place on April 22, 2023 and will give musicians (ages 16 – 999) the opportunity to perform on the stage of The Ridgefield Playhouse in front of a live audience and a handpicked panel of judges including:  Steve Addabbo (Record  producer, songwriter and audio engineer who helped launch the careers of Suzanne Vega and Shawn Colvin), John Bongiorno (Partner/Agent at Arrival Artists), Nick Mara (of Webster Bank), Mark Franzoso (President Franzoso Contracting), Ethan Isaac (Owner Operator at Factory Underground Studios), Stefani Scamardo (Sirius XM Host, Founder and President of Evil Teen Records and Hard Head Productions and Management), Danny Goldberg (President and owner of Gold Village Entertainment, an artist management company; former CEO and founder of Gold Mountain Entertainment; former chairman and CEO of both Mercury Records), Jared Shahid (Managing Director of Talent and Marketing, The Ridgefield Playhouse) and Doug Wimbish (the cutting edge lead bassist in the Grammy Award-winning hard rock band Living Colour).

As always, our BandJam competitions are fundraisers to support our Arts for Everyone program, which helps make the performing arts available to economically disadvantaged residents of Fairfield County and surrounding communities.

Prizes:

Winner

  • EPK produced by Factory Underground
  • A half-day recording session at Shelter Island Sound Studios in New York City
  • Spot on Northlands Festival Community Stage in 2023
  • The opportunity to open a show at the Ridgefield Playhouse (subject to headlining artist approval)
  • Two tickets to an RPH show of your choice for each musician (subject to availability)
  • Supportive PR and Marketing from the Playhouse platforms

Runner Up

  • Consultation with renowned music producer, to be announced
  • A ticket to an RPH show of your choice for each musician

Timing:

  • Submissions will be accepted from September 19, 2022 through February 10, 2023
  • If selected, winners must be able to perform live on April 22, 2023 at The Ridgefield Playhouse (Save The Date!)

Eligibility:

  • This year’s competition if for high school age and older (anyone younger requires parental consent)
  • Applicants must not be signed to a major record label
  • Applicants may not be employed by or related to anyone at the Ridgefield Playhouse or any participating event sponsors
  • Cover songs will not be considered; this is for original music only
  • All bands agree to have their name, voice, and/or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without compensation or rights to royalties for such use

Basic Rundown:

  • You submit your music
  • Our judges listen
  • Judges identify and select the finalists who will perform at Bandjam 12: Rock The House on April 22, 2023
  • At the live event, a panel of music industry professionals will vote on a winner and one runner-up
  • You ascend to stardom
