Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Green of Greenwich!

Three questions with Flavia Barker, owner of Green of Greenwich.

Why did you start your business?

Green of Greenwich comes from a combination of different drivers, my profound love for flowers and how they are the perfect expression of nature and art. I have been working with flowers for more than 20 years and find it to be a privilege. Looking at the opportunity of offering a high-end unique product to the sophisticated and selective market around me. I have a passion for flowers, plants, and design. Working with fresh cut florals and green plants keep me in touch with natural beauty and allow me to contribute to the community’s economy while providing me and my family a trade.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…”

I wish I could make the government understand that small businesses are the backbone of society and that we need reasonable and simplified taxes or it will be increasingly difficult to compete and keep businesses alive.

What is your best selling product/service?

My tablescape designs and my personal attention to every order. Tablescapes are what differentiates a well-rounded event from the others, they highlight the attention to detail by the host.
