JUDGE: Megan Fontanella, Curator, Modern Art and Provenance at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, New York.

Megan has curated or co-organized nearly thirty exhibitions for the Guggenheim’s extended constellation of museums in Berlin, Bilbao, New York, & Venice. Megan’s collection-based exhibitions have included Visionaries: Creating a Modern Guggenheim (2017); Art of Another Kind: International Abstraction and the Guggenheim, 1949–1960(2012); and The Great Upheaval: Modern Art from the Guggenheim Collection, 1910–1918 (2011), among others. She also curated Visions of Modernity(2012-13), the final presentation of the Deutsche Guggenheim, Berlin. More recently, Megan co-curated Giacometti(2018) and supported Alberto Burri: The Trauma of Painting (2015-16), as well as Robert Motherwell: Early Collages (2013). Her current project is Van Gogh to Picasso: The Thannhauser Legacy (2018-20), an exhibition that will travel to Spain, France, and Italy. Megan likewise maintains the Guggenheim’s Thannhauser Gallery, a permanent display of 19th- and early 20th-century art. Apart from her exhibitions activities, Megan conducts provenance research for the Guggenheim & collaborates on cross-departmental initiatives related to collections stewardship. Megan received her B.A. in Art History modified with History from Dartmouth College & went on to receive her M.A. in Art History from the Courtauld Institute of Art, London, where she specialized in late 19th-century French art.

ENTRYSATURDAY, MARCH 2, 2pm-4pm and SUNDAY, MARCH 3, 2pm-4pm. Please follow check-in points on FIRST FLOOR of Arts Center building before bringing work to the Bendheim Gallery, 2nd floor and follow the signs for entry circuit. IF YOU WISH TO FILL OUT FORMS BEFORE ENTRY DATES, FORMS MAY BE PICKED UP IN ADVANCE FROM A DISPLAY OUTSIDE OF THE GAS OFFICE STARTING MONDAY, FEBRUARY 25 DURING HOURS WHEN ART CENTER BUILDING IS OPEN. NO EARLY DROP-OFFS FOR ENTRY!!

ELIGIBILITY: Entrants must be current Greenwich Art Society members. Members must pay the current years dues if in arrears and new members may join on entry day. (GAS Membership forms can be downloaded at www.greenwichartsociety.org) Works are not eligible if previously accepted for one of our juried exhibitions; if they have been exhibited in the Bendheim or GAS Galleries; or if completed prior to 2017. All submitted work must be attractively and appropriately matted, framed and/or presented. All works must be for sale. If a portrait, the price of a similar commission must be stated. No PORs. The Bendheim Gallery reserves the right to final approval of the selection of artwork for the exhibition. Entry fees will not be returned if the Bendheim chooses to remove a work from eligibility for exhibition.

CATEGORIES: Oil/Acrylic, Drawing, Pastel, Watercolor, Sculpture, Photography, Computer Art, Fiber Arts, Other Media.

IMAGES OF ARTWORK: G.A.S. will produce an online catalogue. All works exhibited will be included. Each artist whose work is accepted will be asked to provide a high-quality digital image of the work. The G.A.S. reserves the right to use images of the work in its website, catalogue and other media. A high-resolution (but no more than 1MB) digital image should be in a jpeg format and emailed to – admin@greenwichartsociety.org -- NO LATER THAN MONDAY, MARCH 11, 2019.

SIZE: Wall-hung works are limited to a 5’ height and 5’ width including frame. Works must be dry and wired securely for hanging.

WORKS NOT ON CANVAS MUST BE FRAMED. Freestanding sculptures are limited to 8' in height mounted and 12' square floor area.

Sculptors must provide bases if needed, secure small works firmly, and install difficult to handle pieces. Works not meeting these requirements will not be accepted.

ENTRY FEE: $35 for one piece, $15 for a second. THIS IS A HANDS-ON ENTRY, NOT DIGITAL. Work is handled on site to facilitate judging. Limit two, payable in cash or check. NO CREDIT CARDS. IF PAID IN CASH, EXACT CHANGE WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

AWARDS: Cash and other awards totaling over $2000 will be presented at the opening reception.

JUDGINGIf selected, your name and work title will be posted to the GAS website by 10 AM TUESDAYMARCH 5th.

REMOVAL OF WORK NOT SELECTED: If not selected, you must pick up your work TUESDAY, MARCH 5   from 5-7pm & WED. MARCH 6 from 5-7pm. The penalty of $25 a day for each work picked up late will be enforced without exception. Entry constitutes agreement to this condition.

PLEASE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH A FRIEND TO PICK UP YOUR WORK IF YOU CANNOT DO SO AT THIS TIME.

REMOVAL OF SELECTED WORK: FRIDAY & SATURDAY, APRIL 5 & 6 from 2pm-4pm.

No early removals. Same penalty for late pick-up as above. Entry constitutes agreement to these conditions.

LIABILITY: Although care will be taken, neither the Greenwich Art Society, the Arts Council nor the Town of Greenwich will be responsible for loss or damage. Entry constitutes agreement to this condition.

SALES: 30% of the price of each work sold as a result of this exhibition will be divided between GAS and the Bendheim Gallery. Sales of displayed works within 3 months of the close of the exhibition will be subject to this charge.
