Take a Break from the Heat with a Visit to the Bruce

Take a break from the heat this weekend and explore four exciting exhibitions now on view at the Bruce Museum and to enjoy an array of special programs scheduled for Sunday. Art and science exhibitions now on view:

From Butterflies to Battleships: Selections from the Bruce Museum Photography Collection, draws from the Bruce Museum Photography Collection to present a selection of work by four singular American photographers, on view through September 1.

iCreate 2019, an impressive display of regional high school artists, on view through July 28.

Summer with the Averys [Milton | Sally | March], a unique opportunity to become acquainted with the remarkable art created by Avery’s wife Sally and their daughter March. On view through September 1.

Sharks!  Watch live sharks develop in eggs, see life-sized models of sharks, and compare and contrast jaws and teeth from almost 20 different species, on view through September 1.

Stop by with the family on Sunday at 11:30 – 12:15 pm for a Family Gallery Tour. This tour takes children ages 5 and up, and their caregivers, through the Museum’s current exhibitions.

For a special treat on Sunday, catch an afternoon movie matinee at the Bruce at our popular Science on the Silver Screen program, 1:30 - 4:30 pm. We will be watching A Quiet Place (runtime: 1 hr 31 min; rated PG-13) with a special guest scientist. The expert scientist will introduce the film, watch with you, and lead a discussion about the science (or lack thereof) shown in the film. Could monsters really track their prey using only sound? What are the real animals that have these sorts of powers? Now’s your chance to find out. Grab some popcorn, sit back, and be ready to learn, in an interactive conversation driven by you!

Movie, snacks, and drinks (including beer) are FREE with museum admission! Please make a reservation online and pay for your entry at the front desk upon arrival.

Also on Sunday: Art Adventures: Postcards from Abroad, 1 – 3 pm. Come to the Bruce for hands-on family fun. In this Art Adventure, kids and their caretakers will create postcards based on their summer adventures, inspired by interacting with the Summer with the Averys [Milton | Sally | March] exhibition. They can share or take home their postcards.
