Why Small Businesses Matter in Greenwich: Isabella Garrucho Fine Art

Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Isabella Garrucho Fine Art!
Three questions with Raven Vaz of Isabella Garrucho Fine Art.
Why did you start your business?
The simple answer is, we love art. Our family has been in the art business for over 35 years and opening a gallery was an exciting change for our business - moving from corporate art to private collections and homes. We are proud to support local established and emerging artists and being able to build relationships with both our artists and clients is something we take immense pride in.
How many people do you employ? Any youth or seniors from the community?
Aside from Isabella and her son Alex who co-own the gallery, we have a small team of sales associates and interns. Specifically, our summer intern program is designed to be a great learning experience for young artists as well as individuals looking to gain experience in the art industry. We also have several senior artists we represent, and we love them dearly!
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
We represent many local Connecticut artists, including Maryam Ego-Aguirre, Andrea Bonfils, Jami Goldman, Joseph Malfettone, Kyle Andrew Szpyrka, Dmitri Wright, Jacquelyn Thunfors, Dean Cera, Margot Nimiroski, and Joe McNally. We are frequent patrons of many CT establishments, including the Greenwich Sentinel and Greenwich Time, printers, various local framers including the Charles Michael Gallery in Darien, shipping, and catering from Garelick and Herbs, Backstone Restaurant, Kira Sushi, and Horseback and Val’s liquor stores. We are proud to be a Connecticut small business!
