Four questions with Cristina Teuscher and Amerigo Fabbri, founders of Sweet Blue Swim Academy.
Why did you start your business?
We started our business in the Fall of 2017, bringing both of our passions as a couple together. Cristina, a two-time Olympic medalist swimmer for the U.S. National Team, and Amerigo, former Dean and Lecturer at Yale, together developed a curriculum focused on education and community. We knew we could build something special together, but we’re humbled by the growth we’ve experienced in these past two years, and we have been blessed with the help of a warm, intelligent, and kind team of instructors. We are immensely grateful to the wonderful Greenwich families who have sung our praises and have made it possible for us to open a second location in Stamford this past Fall 2019.

“I wish I could…” teach respect for the water and water safety to all kids in Connecticut under the age of 4.Did you know that the number one cause of preventable death for kids under the age of 4 is drowning? Proper education in dealing with the water is key, with swim lessons that are attentive to the proper technique as well as safety being a critical piece of drowning prevention.
What is your best selling product/service?
While we expectedly offer classes from Parent & Child to Learn-to-Swim and Competitive Clinics and on to Adult Learn-to-Swim, thus including all ages from 4 months up to 80 plus years of age. We bring to our programs a wealth of knowledge in swimming and education that is both unique and exceptional. As we focus meticulously on proper technique, we offer unparalleled stroke expertise, which is why our students learn to swim very well and very quickly.

Greenwich Suzuki Academy for children’s music education—their instructors are world-class - their recitals and approach floor us.
Greenwich Moms to know where to go and what to do. The community programming for kids in this town is top-notch, so it’s helpful to be able to find it all in one resource.
We nominate Greenwich Suzuki Academy—Nick Hardie, one of the owners is an incredible cellist and plays in two local orchestras. Heather Hardie is a leading Suzuki instructor with the Suzuki organization. They care deeply about their community, and it shows. They are a hidden gem as most people don’t know of these outstanding instructors right in their backyard. If kids want to play an instrument at the highest level—you will find your teacher here.
While we expect our facility to open soon, we have been offered the great opportunity of using the wonderful and warm-water pool located at the Boy and Girls Club of Greenwich, 4 Horseneck Lane, Greenwich, CT 06830.
