Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Funky Monkey Toys & Books!
Three questions with Jared Greenman, VP of Funky Monkey Toys & Books.
Why did you start your business?
Greenwich needed a new toy store! After operating in Long Island for 15 years we saw an opportunity to expand to Connecticut and provide local parents and children with a fresh, funky, and upbeat shopping experience.
What is your best selling product/service?
We pride ourselves on selling all of the latest and trendiest cool new toys. Right now Electric Scooters and Crazy Carts are flying off the shelves and Hot Cocoa Bombs are super fun and popular especially for these cold winter nights. We get new toys and gifts daily, every time you come back you'll see something different!
Have you "reimagined" your small business?
As a small business owner, you're constantly facing new challenges (COVID as an example) and must adapt. We're constantly reimagining our business and listening to what our customers are asking for. A few new initiatives include the launch of a loyalty rewards point program and private concierge shopping via FaceTime and text messaging. The launch of our online store in 2021 will be a major "reimagination" effort!
