Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Total Food Service!

Four questions with Michael Scinto, Director of Advertising at Total Food Service.

Why did you start your business?

Total Food Service was originally started by co-publishers, Fred and Leslie Klashman, to offer both Connecticut and New York restaurant owners a complimentary business-to-business publication featuring interviews, news, and resources.

What is your best-selling product/service?

Our publication and concierge services! We offer both complimentary print or digital subscriptions to professionals in the restaurant and hospitality industries. And if restaurant owners need any resources, insights, or new product information, we can be reached by emailing tfs@totalfood.com and our team will assist anyone with questions and recommendations to help their restaurant business!

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Our team dine-outs or orders take-out frequently to help support local Connecticut restaurants!

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

From fruition and for several years (1991 to 2005), Total Food Service was a niche regional publication to the CT and NY areas only, but we have expanded our reach across the country and overseas by creating daily digital content which expanded our reach tenfold and in return has created new and growing partnerships.

Total Food Service is located at 282 Railroad Avenue in Greenwich. Visit Total Food Service online here, and make sure to check out their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages as well!
