New Phase of Old Greenwich Common Force Main Replacement Project Begins Today

Greenwich, CT., August 13, 2021 - Town of Greenwich Department of Public Works, Sewer Division, completed Work Zone 1 ahead of time on the Old Greenwich Common Force Main Replacement Project. Work Zone 2 officially started today and construction is located on Oval Avenue between Terrace Avenue and Summit Avenue.

Temporary road closures at this location will take place from 7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday. Depending on weather and unforeseen conditions, Work Zone 2 is anticipated to be completed in approximately three to four weeks. Department of Public Works recommends residents give themselves a little extra time when traveling, and stay vigilant for signage and detours posted. For the safety of the workers, please stay alert, slow down, and select alternative routes.

Additional Information About the Project:

There are six work zone sections comprised in this project, starting from the west and progressing east. This is an essential project that will improve the longevity and reliability of the most critical sewer force main in the Town of Greenwich’s sewer system. The segment of the Old Greenwich Common Force Main for this project carries wastewater under pressure from the Old Greenwich Pumping Station – Greenwich’s largest sewer pump station. There are six work zone sections comprised in this project, starting from the west and progressing east. The anticipated completion date of all six work zone sections is December 2021. Department of Public Works, Sewer Division, strives to provide reliable service to the Town and implement important maintenance projects that protect the environment.
