J. McLaughlin Celebrates 20 Years in Greenwich, Shop on Wednesday and Support Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation

Greenwich residents continue to spend more time outdoors in the Town's public parks, beaches, green spaces, and trails. The mission of the Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Department is to deliver high-quality leisure time opportunities through safe, well-organized, and affordable activity programs and special events.

The Parks and Recreation Department facilitates an array of leisure opportunities for all age groups that enhance Town residents' physical, intellectual, social, and cultural growth and development. The Department ensures reasonable access to all programs by bridging physical and economic gaps that could impede participation.

The Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation was established as a private non-profit organization to support and enhance our Town's heritage of parks, open spaces, and recreational programming. It connects the community through strategic philanthropic investments and revenue development.

"We had a very successful summer with a record number of people served by Parks and Recreation," said Director of Parks and Recreation Joseph Siciliano. "Now in the fall, we continue to see record-breaking use of the beaches, parks, and facilities. The Foundation supports the Town's recreational infrastructure and usage of our facilities."

The Foundation is a tax-exempt entity designed to supplement public funding with our community's private donations and volunteer efforts. Its efforts are dedicated to the transformative experiences that the beautiful outdoors afford us, including capital and landscape improvements and park development and maintenance. It also supports efforts such as playground and picnic area upgrades, beautification projects, and special community events. Most importantly, the Foundation provides financial assistance to income-eligible resident families for participation in youth activities through the Parks and Recreation Scholarship Program.

As the Town has experienced increased usage, the Foundation continues its efforts in engaging the Greenwich community to raise funds to support its mission and activities. The next opportunity will kick off on Wednesday, October 20, from 3:00 pm - 7:00 pm at J.McLaughlin at 55 East Putnam Avenue in downtown Greenwich, celebrating their 20th Anniversary in Greenwich. Co-founder and current Chief Creative Officer Kevin McLaughlin will be on hand for the Anniversary celebration. The Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation will receive 15% of sales in this shop-for-a-cause event. Caffe Bon will provide refreshments to shoppers.

"We are highly appreciative of the support from J.McLaughlin," said Siciliano. "This event is a great example of the Foundation's efforts in connecting the community to funding a variety of experiences and enabling us to deliver first-class amenities."

J.McLaughlin Greenwich store manager Kristin Kidder stated, "the culture of J.McLaughlin as a company is one of being good neighbors by giving back to the community. It's at the core of our corporate mission. We are happy to share our 20th Anniversary in Greenwich with the Town of Greenwich Parks and Recreation Foundation."
