Greenwich Historical Society’s Holiday Celebrations Kick off with Festive Benefit at Mel Gibson’s Former Estate

Old Mill Farm, the former back-country Greenwich estate of Mel Gibson and home of Foundation House, will sparkle on the November 4th opening night of the Historical Society’s holiday celebrations.

Presented by Oscar de la Renta, an American style icon whose legendary fashions continue to inspire, and sponsored by preeminent jeweler Betteridge and Douglas VanderHorn Architects, the Fall Fěte reception benefits the Historical Society’s programs in education, historic preservation and the arts.

The grand Elizabethan-style estate is perfectly suited to the Historical Society’s commitment to preserving Greenwich’s architectural heritage. Guests will roam the expansive grounds with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres by famed caterer Peter Callahan and be charmed by Jill and Gill Bumby as they provide a personalized narrative that playfully describes how their appearance is read by the world.

Founded on an outlandish concept, the Bumbys are champions of the idea that you can find an authentic and sustainable meeting point between art and commerce while looking for the good in people. Their performance has attracted the Whitney Museum of American Art, Vogue, the New York Times, the New Yorker, L.A. Times, among others.

Co-chairs Douglas Granteo, Mimi Mouton and Alexandra Kittle are planning an unforgettable evening under the stars. Tiered pricing is offered. Sponsor levels include an invitation to an Oscar de la Renta shopping event at a private home, discounts on Oscar de la Renta merchandise through November 4th, VIP family passes for all Winter Market and Holiday Festival events and complimentary Historical Society family memberships.
