Greenwich Police Report Guilty Plea in Valerie Reyes Homicide, Encourage Those in Abusive Relationships to Seek Help

February 5, 2020—UPDATE—Guilty Plea in Reyes Homicide (CFS 19-4289)

Valerie Reyes was found deceased on the morning of February 5, 2019 just off Glenville Road in Greenwich. Valerie had been previously reported by her family as missing to the New Rochelle, NY Police.

Greenwich Police Detectives, working collaboratively with the New Rochelle Police, the Westchester County Forensics Investigation unit and other law enforcement agencies identified a suspect who was subsequently arrested by New York authorities on February 12, 2019. The suspect, identified as Javier E. DaSilva-Rojas, 25, was charged in federal court with Kidnapping Resulting in Death (18 USC 1201).

Today in federal court in White Plains, NY, DaSilva plead guilty to the charge and is expected to be sentenced to at least 30 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for May 21, 2020.

This lengthy investigation included examination of multiple crime scenes, hundreds of hours of surveillance footage, and numerous interviews of potential witnesses. Additionally, social media footprints and records from a variety of sources were analyzed.

Although justice has been served, we remain saddened by the loss of Valerie and sincerely hope that her family will find peace and a sense of closure to this tragedy.
