Detective Michael Rooney receives the Greenwich Police Department Officer of the Month recognition for his exceptional police work.
In August 2021, the Greenwich Police Department was made aware that an adult male school worker was sending inappropriate text messages to a 13-year-old student. The suspect, aware that the original recipient was a 13-year-old female, attempted to entice the juvenile to engage in illegal sexual activity.
Detective Michael Rooney was assigned to investigate the case. Detective Rooney conducted a complex and sensitive investigation expertly and professionally and ensured that an alleged sexual predator in the community will face justice.
While many were involved in this investigation, Det. Rooney acted above and beyond the call of duty to bring this case to a successful conclusion.
Detective Rooney is commended for his diligence and professionalism. His actions bring great credit to himself and the Greenwich Police Department.
