Danbury Skies About To Light Up For 4th of July Celebrations

For those of you who are wondering, the City of Danbury has two fireworks displays. They are scheduled for June 30th and July 3rd respectively.

The June 30th fireworks are the granddaddy of them all.  Sponsored by the Danbury Volunteer Firefighters and the City of Danbury, the Fireworks are launched from a small island just off of the shore of the Danbury Town Park at Candlewood Lake. For the best viewing, get there early, and picninc on the beach. Danbury PD does a nice job of moving traffic in out, but, just understand, once you are there, you aren't going anywhere until the fireworks are over. If you don't feel like dealing with the crowd, the front lawn of Danbury High School provides a decent viewing location, the lights of DHS can be a little distracting, but in general, there are fewer people at the spot than at the park.

On July 3rd, the Danbury Fair Mall will be doing its annual fireworks display. The fireworks are launched from the Danbury Airport. There's good viewing along the Cheesecake Factory side of the Mall as well as above the Danbury Airport along Wooster Heights Rd. Early arrival is a must, and expect to wait awhile at the conclusion of the event for traffic to clear.

Either way, assuming that there's good weather, both shows are spectacular.
