Legendary hard rock band Blue Öyster Cult (BÖC) returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse on Sunday, February 3, at 8 p.m. These New York natives’ satirical lyrics are the catalyst of their explosive hits that include “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper”, “Godzilla” and “Burnin’ for You”. BÖC’s unique science fiction influenced music has lasted longer than three decades. It will be a night of sleek hard rock. Special guest is Logan's Run, a Connecticut band whose latest EP is Waist Deep. There will be a Guinness Black Lager tasting in the lobby at 7:15 p.m. An AllShows.com VIP Party Pass ($25 addt'l per person), which includes a pre-show cocktail party 6:30 – 7:15 p.m. with open bar, hors-d’oeuvre and priority parking, is available for this show, which is part of the Guinness Black Lager Rock Series. Blue Öyster Cult has sold more than 14 million albums worldwide and was ranked #55 on VH1’s The 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. When BÖC has appeared at the Playhouse in past seasons, the show has been sold out. The somewhat curious name “Blue Öyster Cult” comes from the poetry of band manager Sandy Perlman and referred to a group of aliens who had come together to secretly guide Earth’s history. Lead vocalist Eric Bloom’s personality and power drive the Blue Öyster Cult songs, and his compositions “The Old Gods Return” and “Eye of the Hurricane” are standouts on their new album Curse of the Hidden Mirror. Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser is on guitar and vocals with a voice that is responsible for the signature “BÖC” sound. He wrote “(Don’t Fear) the Reaper” and “Burnin’ for You”. His voice complements Eric Bloom’s sharp-edged style. Award-winning songwriter Richie Castellano plays bass, guitar and keyboards. The drummer is Jules Radino who also teaches drum. The fifth band member is Rudy Sarzo on bass who has played with the crème de la crème of hard and metal artists.
