Nelson Merchan, Danbury resident and business owner, recieves recognition from the SBA

SBA Recently announced the annual Small Business Week Winners for 2013!!

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) recently announced Nelson Merchan of CLICROI, LLC., based in Danbury, CT the 2013 Home-Based Business Champion for the State of Connecticut. A Home-Based Business Champion is an individual who has experienced the reqards and difficulties of owning a home-based business and has volunteered to improve the climate for these businesses. Merchan is an exemplary candidate who epitomizes this award category.

Merchan is the founder and President of CLICROI LLC, a company that he created in 2006. Prior to this, Merchan worked for TNS, an English company, and Greenfield Online as a Hispanic Panel Manager. He participated in the launching and growth of Amway in Colombia where he was promoted to the position of Marketing and Sales Manager. Merchan has worked closely with Amway distributors around Colombia assisting them to grow their businesses.

Merchan has been a SCORE counselor for three years and is currently the Chairman for the Western Connecticut Chapter. He has been recognized by Western CT SCORE as a premier counselor and has recently been appointed Chairman of Western CT SCORE. He was a volunteer ESL teacher at the Hispanic Center in Danbury and eventually became a board member and President of the board of directors.

Merchan and all other eight small Business Week award winners were honored at the SBA cocktail awards reception on June 5, 2013 at the Hartford Club in Hartford, CT.
