Pour Me Coffee & Wine Cafe to Open on Main Street Danbury June 15

The unique Danish concept of Hygge - a shared sense of comfort and contentment - has no equal within the American vernacular. The Portuguese, a vibrant presence within the Danbury community, come close - Acolhedor. As a community entrepreneur and former Executive Director of CityCenter Danbury, Andrea Gartner takes heed. Her new "concept eatery," Pour Me Coffee & Wine Cafe, will feature on its walls "welcome" in every language spoken in the city, and comfort and contentment are her goals. She oozes - yes, pours - with uncontained enthusiasm, saying  "Pour Me Coffee & Wine Cafe will provide best-ingredient food and drink to fuel and fortify people to do their good in the world." Her motto, "Consume & Conquer," hangs above her attractive Main Street storefront.

Pour Me Coffee & Wine Cafe will officially open its doors on Thursday, June 15th, at 274 Main Street, Danbury. Hours are: Mondays through Wednesdays, 6:00am to 10:00pm, Thursdays and Fridays, 6:00am to 11:00pm, Saturdays, 8:00am to 11:00pm, and Sundays, 8:00am to 9:00pm. The establishment, which will offer breakfast burritos, paninis, poutines, personal pizzas, salads, gluten-free smoothies, tasty vegan choices, and a kids menu, will also offer full dinner service after 5:00pm. Matt Rieve, formerly of Figs Wood Fire Bistro in Sandy Hook, has been engaged as kitchen manager/chef. Leading up to its gala debut, the Cafe will be open for limited hours beginning Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th.

For over a decade, Andrea worked as a stay-at-home-but-not-idle mom. But as much as she loved being the chief caretaker of the household, she was driven to do more. She found her outlets in school- and community-based projects, from which she learned many skills that have led to her work revitalizing and energizing the growing urban environment in which she lives, works, and plays - and proactively promotes.

Patty Lennon, a successful author/consultant living in Brookfield who guides entrepreneurs to grow their businesses, writes, "It is easy to get distracted by the world around us and forget the ability  we have to make a real impact in our own backyard. Andrea is different. What struck me about Andrea is that each choice she has made hasn't just been about what she likes but also how it will make her clients and neighbors feel."

Many Downtown regulars praise her dedication to Downtown, her participation in a thriving creative community, her spunk as a woman entrepreneur, and as one put it, "she's simply uniquely Danbury."

"Entrepreneurship is America's contribution to the world," says Andrea. "It's why people still come with aspirations and why my parents immigrated here. As a first-generation American, I want to carry on the ethic of community participation and recognition. I don't have to go anywhere. It's possible that anywhere can come to us. At Pour Me, we think big and work hard, bringing the whole universe to a revitalized Downtown."
