Creativity Connects Danbury: Meet Tom Devine, Restaurant Owner, Local Creative, Community Supporter

Creativity Connects Danbury

What fuels a vibrant, connected and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in Danbury?

When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good.

Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in Danbury.

Creativity connects us.

Meet Tom Devine, Danbury resident, owner of Two Steps Downtown Grille and Caio Catering.

Is there a person or organization using creativity to provoke change in Danbury?

David Boyajian has contributed greatly to the community through his artistic work and teaching.  He devoted countless volunteer hours to help with the Main Street Sculpture Garden.

In addition, our regular customers are using creativity to provoke change!  They've come out to support us dining in our restaurant or by placing delivery or pick-up orders.  Even though obviously our numbers are way down, it's their support that keeps us going.

Any place in town where you go for inspiration and creativity?

The kitchen here at Two Steps Downtown Grille.  We are a family run restaurant and we love to cook and constantly experiment with food.  In the past, our outlet had been our cooking classes and catering business.  Since Covid hit, we now strive to come up with unique and creative ideas to spark our customer's interest! We've owned and operated restaurants in Downtown Danbury since 1988.  We love City and have been thrilled to be a part of the restaurant scene here for 32 years.

Is there an organization in town that makes you feel good?

The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut whose role is to connect artists to the community and help improve the quality of life and the economy. The nonprofit serves 10-towns in the Greater Danbury area. They are hosting Shop Artist Sunday on November 29, a virtual online marketplace.
