Connecticut Christmas Tree Shops Gear Up to Close

All Connecticut Christmas Tree Shops locations will soon close. The news comes after the company filed for bankruptcy in May. Urstadt Biddle, is the leasing agent for the Danbury location, at 15 Backus Ave, a 47,555 SF space.

Today, CNN Business reported, "Christmas Tree Shops will liquidate all of its stores and go out of business unless a white knight comes out of the woodwork at the 11th hour. The discount retail chain, which sold a variety of home goods, disclosed in a court filing last week that it defaulted on a $45 million loan and is closing its roughly 70 stores in the coming weeks."

The popular chain opened its flagship store on Cape Cod 50 years ago was acquired in 2003 by Bed Bath & Beyond and sold it to Handil Holdings, LLC, in 2020.
