Richter Park's own Robert Dorsch receives special designation at GCSAA
This week, while attending the Golf Course Superintendent Association of America’s (GCSAA) annual conference in Las Vegas, Rob will be recognized by his peers as he formally receives the designation of Certified Golf Course Superintendent. A Certified Golf Course Superintendent is one that has voluntarily met the requirements set forth by the GCSAA to receive the professional distinction of a CGCS.
To qualify for GCSAA’s competency-based certification program, Rob was required to have a minimum of three years experience as a golf course superintendent, be employed in that capacity and meet post-secondary educational requirements. His knowledge, skills and abilities were validated through the development of a personal portfolio consisting of responses to skill statements, case-study scenarios and a submission of work samples. In addition, Rob was judged by a jury of his peers during an on-site inspection of the golf facility by two certified golf course superintendents. Last summer, Rob sat for a rigorous six-hour examination covering: equipment, irrigation systems, materials and technology; golf course and grounds, human resources, rules of golf, financial and administrative systems, regulatory and programmatic systems, crisis management, project management and ethics and values.
On a personal note, as I move on to new adventures in the club industry, I will truly miss working with a superintendent the caliber of Rob Dorsch. Rest assured the jewel that is Richter Park Golf Course is in great hands in the care and dedication of Rob Dorsch, CGCS!
CONGRATULATIONS ROB!
