City of Danbury Unveils Fresh Initiative to Combat Property Fraud

Today, the Office of the Town Clerk announced the implementation of Cott Systems’ PropertyCheck system to proactively address property and mortgage fraud in Danbury, at no cost to residents. This service allows residents to sign up through recordhub.cottsystems.com to receive notifications when official documents are recorded on their property, adding an additional layer of protection against fraud throughout the community.

PropertyCheck automatically alerts residents who have signed up if a document with a matching name or address is recorded. Residents can opt-in by creating a RECORDhub account, and create text and/or email alerts under their name and property address where applicable.

“My staff and I are proud to announce that we can now offer this proactive, additional layer of protection to Danbury residents. Our goal is to help our community bolster the protection of their records and data through secure and easy-to-use methods, and PropertyCheck does just that,” said Town Clerk Laurie Esposito.

“It’s also a good idea to set up multiple alerts based on first, middle, and last name variations and your spouse’s name, to be sure that an alert will be triggered in case a recording happens with some kind of slight variation,” said Paul Fetters, product Implementation Specialist at Cott Systems.

To activate these PropertyCheck benefits, residents of Danbury can sign up for PropertyCheck alerts by going to the Danbury Town Clerk website, clicking “Search Land Records on RecordHub” and creating an account.
