Reduce Your Fines by Feeding Others! Food for Fines at Danbury Library!

Reduce Your Fines by Feeding Others March Down to the Library!

Throughout the month of March, Danbury Library will waive overdue fines in exchange for donations of unexpired, unopened canned and packaged foods. All donated food items will be collected at the Main Floor information desk and distributed by Daily Bread Food Pantry to community members in need.

Suggested non-perishable food items include dried beans, rice, cooking oil, tea, coffee, baby food, breakfast cereal, condiments, sugar, flour, canned soup and vegetables, dry pasta, jelly, peanut butter, and mac ‘n cheese.

Life’s challenges can sometimes lead to overdue fines, making it difficult for library patrons to fully utilize available services. The Food for Fines program aims to remove those barriers while encouraging support for the Danbury community. The public is invited to participate, whether to clear library fines or simply contribute to the local food drive. Please donate only unexpired, unopened items in their original packaging. If you wouldn’t share it with your family, please do not donate it to the food bank.

There is no minimum or maximum donation required. This amnesty program applies to overdue fines only and does not cover lost or damaged materials.
