United Way Mobilizes Over 400 Volunteers for Community Service on Annual Day of Action

Danbury, CT (June 10, 2024) – United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut (UWCWC) recently hosted its annual Day of Action, mobilizing more than 400 volunteers to participate in community service projects across Greater Bridgeport, Greater Norwalk, Stamford, Northern Fairfield County, and Southern Litchfield County. This year's event marked another successful chapter in a long-standing tradition that continues to strengthen our communities through the spirit of volunteerism.

Originally known as the “Day of Caring,” this tradition began at United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut in 1994 with a mission to spread the value of volunteerism while increasing awareness of local human service agencies. Today, Day of Action bridges the gap between our donors and other nonprofit agencies by demonstrating the difference that an entire day of volunteerism can make in our communities.

Volunteers from 20 corporate partners contributed their time and efforts at 22 different sites for nonprofit agency partners. Their collective work underscored the power of community collaboration and the meaningful change that can be achieved when we are united in purpose.
