
DANBURY, Connecticut — Western Connecticut State University will celebrate its designation as a Hispanic-Serving Institution with an afternoon of events that pay tribute to the heritage of the community the university serves from 2 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 1. The Hispanic Community Celebración will take place at the Berkshire Hall Lawn on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury, and will be free and open to the public (rain location will be the Midtown Student Center). Planned events include performances by Matica Arts, Trio Los Pájaros and Movimiento Cultural Afro-Continental, as well as a student poetry reading. The annual Lobo Awards Ceremony will celebrate contributions to the Hispanic community by a WestConn student, faculty/staff member and alumna/us.
